Expired Velvia (2006)

I just bought a bunch of Velvia which expired in 2006 at 1 euro a roll. No clue whether it's been refrigerated or not.

First question, does that mean it's the "old" velvia (just curious, is there really a noticable difference between old velvia and new velvia 50?)?
Second question, how big a chance is there of color casts?

I know, I'll just have to shoot and find out, but still...

In general slide film is more sensitive to aging than negatives. That being said here are some shots of expired Velvia 50 (shot on Hasselblad):

I think I really like Velvia 50, expired or not.

Not a big problem some color cast for a film that produces unreal colors and that will be digitally treated before printing... Of course you'd need other film for neutral rendering...

Nah, they'll work. You know my favorite film? Isopan expired in 1972! OK it's negative and black&white, but it expired 40 years ago and works beautifully.

Oh no, your film will be near the same as new unless it's been exposed to extreme heat or strong x-rays. I've shot two years expired velvia that looks like fresh film, so don't worry at all...

I recently exposed some velvia that was well past the expiration date. Colors were fine, but I think the film may have been fogged as the contrast was fairly low. Nothing a little photoshop couldn't fix.

I have two boxes (20 rolls ea.) of Velvia 50 that expired 2/2003 & 3/2004 they are both the original Velvia 50...not sure if that helps any but yours may be the original stuff too...
I need a reason to shoot this stuff...I've been pondering getting an E-6 kit too...
