Has anyone tried this yet? Any cautions or advice? How is the battery life?

Ride, dive, shoot.
I'm using the new Mobi card with the GR and love it.
Note: GR and/or Modi card has a bug that prevents selective upload, and I've read somewhere that the companies are working to solve it with firmware updates. I believe the older X2 cards don't have that problem.
I just leave the Eye-Fi on all time, and my Android phone (Nexus 4 running 4.3) will detect the Eye-Fi (even if the phone is in a normal wifi network currently), start importing the images as I shoot while the phone is in my pocket with screen off. I shoot RAW+Jpeg, and treating the RAW as "digital negatives" that I backup to my computer once in a while. I like the workflow a lot as I can use the GR as an extenuation of my phone.
I charge the GR from USB port casually and regularly (guess I'm in a minority of people actually preferring USB charging over having dedicated charger) so I don't have any problem with the battery life using Eye-Fi always active, but your millage may vary.

A original Ricoh GR Digital, I assume? I doubt it. The (younger) GX100 seems to be unable to supply enough power for my older Eye-Fi Pro cards (unless their failure is due to the braindead software of the latter). The Transcend WifiSD card does work, though - but going by its load on my batteries it seems to be lower power, and at least in webserver mode it is entirely camera agnostic. As my Eye-Fi cards already are SDHC, younger than the plain SD Eye-Fi cards you'd need for the GR, chances are that the latter are a even harder load on the power supply. That said, 2GB and smaller Eye-Fi cards are a rare sight on ebay, but tend to be very cheap whenever they turn up, so it might be worth while an attempt if an opportunity arises...
