eye piece protection

so...i now have a very nice nikon eye piece correction attachment...and it works...for the first time i can see clearly when i look through the fuji x-pro finder!
one drawback is that the rim is made from hard plastic (maybe metal?) and i fear it will scratch the hell out of my eyeglasses in no time.

any old time remedies that you know of to fix this?

i know aki has some stick on felt type protectors for sale but they are all for fsu cameras...i wrote asking if any fit the nikon eyepiece and await a reply.

If there's enough space on the rim of the diopter correction lens, a thin o-ring of the correct size and some SuperGlue would make a permanent bumper to protect your lenses. Find an o-ring of the right size, use a bit of emery paper to flatten one side of it, then sparingly apply a little glue to the flat and fit it to the eyepiece correction lens outside rim.

I did this years ago with some camera or another that was scratching my glasses. It worked well. Then I learned how to not jam my glasses into the eyepiece, and got scratch resistant coatings on acrylic lenses.

U could mold something for yourself..like I did for my hillbilly fix for the crappy Nex movie button by using an air curing rubber/plastic compound.

U could cut a rubber band to shape and add as a top over your molded piece for extra cushion.

Mark me in the surprised column, as well. In the past year I replaced two eyepieces on my old FE2s with ones from Nikon. Both were rubber lipped, like the standard X-Pro 1. Is Nikon getting cheap in their old age? Do the Fuji diopters not have rubber as well?

I have one on my Nikon F at home too ... I'll have to look at it, don't remember if it is rubberized or not.

the one i was gifted is a nikon version for the fm...have no experience with others, fuji or otherwise.

because i don't see anything clear without my glasses on.
i have progressive lenses which means there is 3 levels of lenses in one piece of glass....when i look into the fuji eyepiece the part that my eye sees through is fuzzy...with the diopter it is clear.
now, i can move my head to see more clearly but then i have a hard time composing because the view is off sides.

anyway, this isn't working out well...the glue is not working...that white glue...need to find something stronger.

I was asking myself why a quite sensible question was so blatantly ignored. Now we have an answer for the original question, but still wondering about this second.

And regarding answers, Back Alley you possibly need a diopter of different power so you don't need the combined power of bifocals plus diopter in order to see clearly.

I'm quite short sighted (now combined with some presbyopia) and need to use my eyeglasses all the time, even so, the best compromise (for me) is no compromise. Direct vision with eyeglasses, viewfinder vision with diopters and no glasses.

Besides the excellent ideas you already have received, I have modified some eyepieces with a small piece of black leather cut with an Olfa "compass" circle cutter. If you are skillful with your hands, you can cut it with a small nail scissors. Loctite Gel Super Bonder worked well for me.

nothing personal, i missed your comment in the first place.
i cannot see the markings on a camera without my glasses, so while shooting with a stronger diopter might work i would be blind for everything else.

i have to wear my glasses as well. forget not having them on. and i've noticed on the fujis that their diopter adjustment doesn't have enough power even with my glasses on. i think another one or two clicks and it would be perfect. it was so much nicer on the nex-7.
