I'm fond of my Zorki 6, my few Jupiters and the KMZ turret universal viewfinder that allows me to use them all with great ease.

As I grow older and glasses become a necessity, I'm beginning to need diopter correction in my viewfinder's eyepiece.

The KMZ turret eyepiece has an external thread, probably designed to fit a diopter correction lens. External thread diameter in the eyepiece is about 10.5 mm. Is there a standard type of eyepiece diopter correction that fits in this thread? What or where should I look for?

Thanks for any comments.

Hola Julio!

I´m not sure that KMZ finder eyepiece thread is a standard one or not. There are three places I think that might be helpfull (besides, they aren´t so far away):

Fotident : www.fotident.com.ar; mail:fotident@fotident.com.ar. Contact: Jorge Luis Panella. I´ve been in contact with him several times. He is a honest camera dealer, and knows a lot about photography.

Luis Cortez: www.centroreparaciones.com.ar mail: centrorep@hotmail.com
This company is also able to make special parts for old cameras (threads and others).

Coleccionables del Rio de la Plata: mail: delriodelaplata@yahoo.com.ar Contact: Roberto Blanco. This guy is also a good person and the one who supplied me the few Contax/Kiev mount lenses I have. His prices are quite lower in comparison to other dealers.

Hope this helps. Perhaps one of those three can find (or have) what you look for. Please feel free to email me (or PM) for any other question I might be of help. Your question is something I have to take care of as I´m also getting older...

Saludos desde la otra orilla!

Ernesto

Welcome to the Doddering Club, Julio and Ernesto. After cataract surgery I do not need correction for camera view-finders. However, everything looks a little more blue than it did before.

Thanks Ernesto! Your tips are most welcome. Saludos from our candombe city.

I am fortunate to have an excellent camera technician nearby in Fotocamara (Rondeau 1470, 900-2004, Montevideo). If those guys can't solve it, then I will try to cross the wide river.

I was wondering if there was a standard solution; if the KMZ Russkis went to the trouble of making an external thread, maybe something standard was supposed to screw there.

Payasam, thanks for the sympathy. Until I got glasses, I believed all of my cameras and lenses had suddenly gone off collimation.
