Masters, please enlighten me. Is the Type II 100mm Canon a Sonnar? The Canon Museum states the Type I is a three element Triotar yet gives the formula as 5/4 as for the type II.

According to the "flow chart" in Jacob Deschin's Canon rangefinder book, the 100/3.5 (all versions) are loosely based on the 50mm F1.9 lens, which makes it a gauss-type lens.

Peter Kitchingman's book of Canon RF lenses says that all 7 versions (as defined by Peter) are 5 elements in 4 groups; the front element is a cemented pair of lenses.
