I suppose these things are personal taste - After having tried several 50mm lenses (3 Crons among them, including latest) I prefer Planar, Hexanon and Nikkor 5cm/1.4 ltm MUCH better.

Yes, Krosya, these are matters of personal taste. As for me, I'm in agreement with the OP on this topic. Of course, as intimated by Ron (Netherlands), the challenge then becomes deciding which 50 Summicron to dance with tonight.

I count the Thorium Based Summicron as a different version. The glass used is different from all other Leitz lenses. Real Glow.

I have four different versions. I prefer the late Collapsible Summicron. I would call it the "second version".
