faq section - lots of good stuff here

Thanks, Joe... I had been successful in creating the private gallery and adding the first photo. But I couldn't figure out how to upload additional photos to that gallery. There is a URL link in very small type in the list of private galleries that I don't recall seeing before, and that got me going this time.

So, I've put up some photos shot at a wedding at the end of July, primarily for the enjoyment of the participants and family. But I didn't want to impose them upon our photo-oriented group here, even though they were shot with the Bronica RF645. Here's the URL, for any who'd like to peek. 🙂

Hello everyone !

I have been monitoring this site for several weeks and have finally decided to register. I do have a number of RF cameras and also enjoy "tinkering" with them. As such, I have fixed a Kiev4a and currently have a Zorki 4 in pieces on my work table.

I went to a Camera show this past Sunday and purchased a nice looking Aires 3c (looks like an M2 or M3) but it needs some TLC.

With all the knowlegable members on this site, I was hoping someone could direct me to or have information on the Aires. The shutter is sticking and the apperture acts stangely. The lens appears to be OK and the Camera has an overall nice appearance.

Thank you for any help.

Hi Bill, welcome. I am fully equipped the 10 thumbs, so I am not the guy to help with your repair questions, but you may want to post a new thread in the repair forum with your specific questions. I am sure they will draw more specific attention there.

Bill,

Sounds like your Aires has a sticky shutter/viewfinder - very common with old fixed-lens rangefinders. Most of us have found by trial and error that flood-cleaning with liquid lighter fluid (naptha) can free that sticky mess and get things going again. Must observe precautions as naptha is explosive, flammable, and not good to breathe, either. I use a few drops of it on a q-tip and massage it in until the shutter opens up on its own - if it is going to do so. Not every shutter can be repaired in this manner, but many have been.

I wrote this about the Aires IIIL:

http://www.growlery.com/aires_iiil/

You can access the shutter/aperture blades on the Aires through the front - the front lens cell just unscrews. I used gaffer tape to get a grip on the front cell and turned counter-clockwise and off she came.

Your mileage may vary, be careful and have fun!

Best Regards,

Hi, this is a very nice site. I already posted some messages, but I just wanted to verify that it's permissible to post linked pictures in my messages. I use my own picture host (Fototime) so I don't really need to upload to this site to show my pictures. I'm not planning to flood the place with my pictures, but I might post one or two here and there to illustrate something.

Thanks,

Warren

I tried to follow the instructions to upload a photo to the gallery, but ...

1) I can't find "upload photo" on the right side of the monitor.

2) When I try to log in I get an "invalid user name/password message" == even though I am logged in and recognized

Help.

Oh man, it's so nice to finally have a name for my condition and to know that there are others out there who share my pain. My particular case however, is complicated by NMS* (a direct result of OENJS#) and thus I suffer with no relief.

CP,
Also, any list you join will use the "-AS" (insert letter) of whatever camera brand in the first position. So on the Nikon list it's - NAS.; or Canon list'er use CAS, etc.
Enjoy it, as indeed there is no cure ~ ; - )

How can I REMOVE a photo from my album? Too many uploads of the same photos! Repetitive.

Can't find a delete button..can't find a delete button...can't find a delete button...can't find a delete button...

Click on the picture. Underneath, you should see "Admin Options: Edit Photo" Click this. In the page that comes up, select "If you want to delete this image completely, check this box", and then click the Submit Changes button. Easy! 😉
