At the risk of offending the entire east coast of Canada; then it's no wonder the Newfoundland rinks are SO GOOD !!

FWIW - Microphen keeps a lot better than XTOL. I have a 2.5 liter pack in my gallon bottle (so that's 1.3 liters of air) that I use at stock for TXT @800+ and Delta 3200 at all speeds. I reuse the developer about 15-17 times without time adjustment. It's taken me as long as 4 months to reach that number of times and I've not had problems.
Microphen also comes in 1 liter packs, so that's only about 10 uses.

There's no reason to make this any harder than it has to be. Either Kodak T-Max P3200 in T-Max liquid developer or Ilford Delta 3200 in Ilford DDX developer (both are liquids) will give you results as good as you can get at these ratings.

In the push-developer shootout in January's Black&White Photography, Mike Crawford tried Champion Promicrol, which is sold as a stock solution. He was impressed, and found right in the middle of the pack of 5 in terms of contrast, smoothness and granularity. He wasn't as successful with the other liquid he tried, Maco Rollei High Speed. Of course he buys in the UK and YMMV.

Not so new now.

And a nice silver for Finland... first curling medal for Finland ever, and a great achievement.
As for the DDX ... from what I have read, it produces higher base fog than some other developers, but I've only used it once, for PanF+ and I haven't made any prints from those negs. The higher base density may influence your choice and results.
I'll take the beer, unless Steph makes it to the next Toronto gathering.

Trius, I don;t have a densitometer but after I read your post I went and compared negatives from the same film (EFKE 100 and APX100) in DDX and Rodinal for fb+f
To my eyes they empty frames look identical for both developers.

There's been rumours floating around that the EFKE film is, in fact, the same film as APX. I haven't tried the EFKE yet but if it is, it should be interesting.
I opted for Delta3200 and DDX - one roll is done and I need to process it but I have a roll of Acros to dev first later this evening.
Thanks for all the input guys, should make for some interesting output I hope.
Cheers

EFKE/ADOX is a very different film to APX.
APX was the most modern of the classic emulsion films, ADOX/EFKE is a classic emulsion.
I have tried both, and maybe I was not clear enough on my previous but I compared APX to APX and EFKE 100 to EFKE 100 just developed in 2 different soups each.
Acros first? I would do it opposite.
D3200 needs more "punch" than Acros.

I'm going to process the Acros first
I never used it as the high speed film like Delta 3200 that I shot at 6400.
Acros will be processed in Rodinal and I'll see what I can do with Delta. I may process the Delta at 12800 even though I shot it at 6400 just to see if I can get it more punchy that way.
Ya know.. it's the "Silvertone" or "Rollei" film that I had heard about that's apparently APX - not the EFKE. My mistake. I've heard of someone bringing back APX 25 even.. but I can't remember who would be doing that.
Cheers

silvertone 400 = apx 400 yes
the "rollei" films, I'm not so sure the are apxs.
As per APX25, i seriously doubt it'll be back.

As a general rule, if you're going by recommended times from Ilford or, I think, the MDC you need to develop for EI X as if you had shot for EI 2x. So if you shot at 6400, then go for 12800 times.
FWIW, even though you are not using Microphen, I have:
Delta 3200 in Microphen at EI 6400 1+0 20:00 30s initial, 1 inversion each minute
