Favorite camera strap?

Like an early contributor to this thread I like Tamrac straps with clips so that I can detach the strap when the camera is on a tripod. I've never had a clip open unexpectedly or break, but I also don't hang really heavy lens/camera combinations around my neck.

I've used a lot of different straps over the years, I liked Domke grippers when they were still made well (ever since Tiffen took over I feel like the quality went downhill). The stock Leica M strap also works pretty decently and they're usually my fall-back choice.

Additionally for pure function I really appreciated the Wapiti Straps and the owner is a real nice fellow too.

Most recently I commissioned a couple custom straps from Justin at Tap & Dye (http://www.tapanddye.com/) and I'm really looking forward to them, I'm quite a fan of leather straps but so many of them are just too thick for what I want but Justin had access to some really nice and strong / yet pliable Horween leather and made up a couple for me, Should have them in a couple days and I expect them to outlast my lifespan.

Narrow Pentax nylon strap:

That or Nikon equivalent AN-7 etc.

Yes, bro! These vintage Pentax straps are the best straps ever. Strong as hell yet totally flexible to roll up however one pleases. Cheap too. I use them on all my cameras.

Have you -- has anyone -- used one of the Harry Benz straps in the rain? Or during heavy physical activity?
......<snip>......

I have used a Harry Benz strap in rain and in very humid conditions without any problems. And, as mr. Benz promises, the split rings he provides are very good.

For heavy cameras (medium format, motorised FX DSLRs with large teles or large zooms), Black Rapid.

For DX DSLRs with small zooms, primes, Leica’s excellent strap with simple connectors and shoulder grip pad.

For lighter weight cameras (mirrorless, X-Pro2 with primes etc), I make my own using cheap poly, woven, dog leads and buckles purchased from mountaineering, or marine supply shops.

I carry my cameras bandolier-style, with the strap over my left shoulder and the camera across my chest or right waist; no neck problems, and in crowds the camera can be tucked behind my right arm.

I don't use leather straps, as I'm out in all weathers and don't trust it; years ago I had a leather strap fail on a Rolleiflex.

Love these straps. Think they've changed a bit since I bought mine (have two) - but I really love the simplicity, strength, non-scratchiness, and general feel in the hand and over the shoulder of these straps. Always intend to switch all my cameras to these straps, but just haven't got around to it yet.

LEAST favorite - actually straps I really hate and regret buying: the Luigi Leicatime Deluxe straps for Leica M cameras. Bought two of these when I was still drinking the Leica-Forum koolaid on everything expensive and Leica-related.

Things I like about them:
- they are handmade by an artisan in Italy.
Things I hate about them:
- they've tended to fall apart (the glued parts just simply drying out and falling off),
- the extendable metal bits are 'covered' by a piece of leather that's clumsily implemented, and which always rides up to expose the bare metal (vs the paintwork of the camera!).
- the general feel of the leather: it hasn't softened the way that even supposedly 'inferior' leather straps that I bought from one of the China-based 'imitators' that Luigi is always ranting about has done.

Always interested to see how many people love the Luigi straps. When I finally get around to buying some more Lance straps I will throw the one I still have in the garbage.

Agreed.

I have both the Lance and Hyperion straps.

Both are very similar, with slightly different materials and construction. The Hyperion is 90% of the Lance strap, for a 75% discount (if I include freight). But the difference between the two is noticeable.

I just bought another Lance strap a few minutes ago. For me it's worth it.

Both are better options than many out there.

Always hated to original Leica Strap. The Domke Gripper is actually pretty great. Since I bought it for my M6 I mainly carry it on my right shoulder only (not across the chest) and I love it. Never slipped so far, even when it gets hectic. Also I can wrap it around my wrist quickly, which I do pretty often. Not too expensive and great value.

On my rangefinders, I love the 4V Design Tuscany leather hand strap. Very high quality! Only $20 on Amazon. Very comfortable and looks amazing!

Welcome to the M club.... & another northerner. My favourite are Harry Benz straps made one off in Toronto:
https://www.harrybenz.com/
I've got one for my M4, & Harry made me a thin one for my '35 iii (model F).....next up is a replacement (with clips) for my Rolleiflex. Great product. terrific work. a lifetime strap

Canpis, to be exact. Looks like decent strap among those I have seen in this thread.
Tastes are soo different.

I don't need strap for statement. It must be nothing but minimal, very durable, yet, elegant.

The only strap which meets this criteria is CV Bessa R, T, L series strap. I wish they sell them separate. So good they are.

Strap which came with M-E is utter garbage. And so is current M series straps. Even more utterish garbage. IMO. Dirt cheap nylon ropes from Home Depot.

First I've heard of those CUB straps, I'll take a closer look at their gear!

I have two Lance straps, I like them and the quick connectors, but round straps aren't really my thing when I carry them on my shoulder alone.

I have two Hawkesmill straps presently, I love them! Soft leather, they aren't too thick and look great!

I have the Westminster on my F3 and the Kensington on my X100T ( I ordered this one RIGHT before they introduced the red stitched version 🙁 )
