Favorite Portrait camera and lens combo***

Hi,
Just wondering what your favorite portrait camera and lens combo is...Any camera, not just Rangefinders.

The vast majority of my portraits have been taken with Bronica ETR/ETRS bodies with a 150mm f4.0 lens and a Nikon body (F3HP or FA) with 85mm f2.0 or 100mm f2.8 Nikon lens.

My all time favorite portrait was taken with a Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL with a Vivitar 135mm f2.8 lens.

I think my current favorite portrait set up is going to be an 8x10 C-1 Green Monster with a Wollensak Vitax 16" soft focus lens or a Kodak 2D 8x10 with a 330mm brass barrel Extra Rapid Rectilinear with Waterhouse stops.

How is that for straying from rangefinders?

I don't do a lot of portraiture, but when I do-
Mamiya TLR and 135mm lens is best, followed by-
Pentax KX and either 85mm/2 J9 or 100/4 macro.
I haven't got an appropriate rangefinder for the job.

I gotta get me one of those Minolta 85/1.7 lenses for my X700 one of these days. Still love that camera!

I did some portraits in the studio with my 20D and the 50/1.4, 85/1.8 and my cheap 24-85/3.5-4.5, at f11 they all looked great.

My favorite at present is my Mamiya 645 with the 150mm lens. The depth of field at close to maximum f-stop is about perfect for portrature in my opinion.

well actually my fave portrait rig IS a rangefinder. m6 ttl, voigtlander 75mm color heliar f2.5, sekonic 308, LOTS of natural light and one 40W monolight for fill. it really just allows me SOOOO much simplicity that i focus MORE on getting the subject in the mood.
if i could just find a buyer for the ferrari i'd pick up a 75mm f1.4.
 
Currently, my Canon EOS with 85mm or 135mm depending on setting and if the subject are strangers or not.

For strangers, the Leica RF experience is remarkable. I have an M8 on order and am looking forward to resurrecting my Leica lenses as I had gotten away from film due to the excellence of the Canon digital.

CZ Biometar 120mm f2.8 plus a short tube for head & shoulders shots on my Pentacon 6TL

For 35mm, the 135mm f2.5 FD lens on the Canon AE1. Really nice with the short extension tube on as well.
 
Contax II with Jupiter-9 2/85. The Jupiter shows the best in women, never yet heard a complaint about the results :)
 
My Nikon F2AS with 85/1.4 AF always delivers something special with precise framing. I wouldn't be without this combo if the brief called for portraits.

A Leica M with Nikkor 105/2.5 LTM always delivers something special but can be trickier when things are happening quickly, due to the long throw and imprecise framing.
