You did turn the tide as i had all of this stuff already! Beware though - it started innocently with that black S and the early 35/3,5. This February project was started just to cycle through cameras and lenses. It now looks like it will take a total of 30 rolls just to cover the lenses - one lens/one roll! It is not like I go searching for this stuff. Somehow it just does show up!
Oh, my teaser for February - the last roll will be shot with a Nikon with a Leica lens!

53mm F1.2?? in Nikon RF mount?
I WANT SOME PICTURES(crying and begging).

Sorry,Lysdexia Rules - it should have been 35/1,2. Hmmm - a 53/1,2 sounds tempting though. There must be some odd Nikon scientific lenses that could be adapted to a S- mount?

i just want a 35 for the s2, tom.

Joe, i think the 35/2,5 VC is now out of stock at the factory. This could mean shortage here once CQ's stock is sold. We all know what happens then. Prices go up etc! The 35/2,5 Nikkor seems to be plentiful and if you can live with the lower contrast it is not a bad lens. The VC is sharper, but unless you do large 16x20 inch prints, I dont think you will see much difference. It does look right on the S2 but one should remember that all of these lenses are close to 50 years old and modern glass and computers have improved lens-design considerably.

55/1.2 Nikkor-O? I don't think the rear element will fit the internal bayonet.
That has never stopped Tom before...How about it Tom? Can a different bayonet/mount be created to attach such a lens to a Nikon RF camera? granted it will have to replace the factory focusing mount. Sounds like a neat idea...a pemenant Nikon low light Rf set-up....JUST DAY-DREAMING

i might go with the cv 35 now just to have one and then keep my eyes open for the nikor version.
stephen has them on his site still.

Brian Sweeney said:You could remove the optics module from the Canon 50mm F1.2 LTM lens. The module seperates from the helical, aperture ring stays on the lens module. Then you could construct an internal mount for the Nikon RF. The lens is the correct focal length for the Nikon RF.
Much smaller and cheaper than the 5cm F1.1 Nikkor. Not much heavier than the Millenium Nikkor on the S2-2000.
Brian, I did have the 50/1,2 'scope lens some years ago. I did look into fitting in a Pentax mount and using it with a Bessaflex. It is possible, but I did adapt the lens briefly to a M ( gaffer tape + a carved out defunct M-body cap). Fixed focus at about 1 meter. it is not that good a lens for that kind of stuff. Most of the Oscilloscope lenses are designed for close focus and as the screen is quite rough, resolution does not need to be that fine. Of course, if you removed the entire helicoil from a S2 and made a specific helicoil it could become a dedicated high speed S2!

Quote from Stephen's site:

These are LIMITED production lenses. Initially only ONE run of each is scheduled: 900 21/4's, 800 25/4's, and 700 35/2.5's. Sadly, IF they sell slowly, there will be only ONE production run
Go figure what's left....I need a 21mm!!!

Good Evening,
Today was Chinese New Year; - a great oppurtunity for shots of the parade and spectators.Souped 5 of the rolls and a brief glance on the wet film showed some stuff with promise,
Tomorrow's kit is the last batch of lenses to cycle through.
The black S2 has an early 35/3,5 on it. The black S3 Mill, has the venerable 105/2,5 and the chrome S2 has the 135/3,5 and a Leica 135 finder.
I will try to post today's scan on flickr,
http://flickr.com/photos/rapidwinder/sets/
but it seems slow tonight. Some interesting stuff with both the 21 Biogon and the 12/5,6 VC.
My attempt to find out if the 50/2 Nikkors are a bit fuzzy continues. I dont know if it is me or the lenses! This could require some Adox KB-14/tripod and sun to settle!
The 50/2 #723 so far seems fine, but the other two are stiii suspect. Could be me too of course!

Well-known
I was out at the weekend and shot some frames with my S-Heliar 50mm/3.5 and Nikkor-S 5cm/1.4 lenses. I also visited a local camera flea market - or should I say a camera museum - and saw there a huge wooden camera with 36cm/4.5 Heliar lens. So a vintage large format Heliar lens met her little cousin http://www.flickr.com/photos/jsuominen/395109399/ .

I read somewhere, perhaps on the Nikon Historical Society site, that there were some unpublicized changes to the formula of the 50/1.4 over time. So they may have been tweaking the formulae on other lenses and not telling anyone.

Good Evening,
Today I thought that I had finished my run through my S-mount lenses and in a fit organizational fervor I cleaned the Nikon drawer of my camera cabinet. What did I find -another 50/2!!!!
So tomorrow I will run all four of my 50/2's with a roll of film each (Neopan 400) and if weather and time permits also a roll through the Elmon.
What prey is an Elmon? At a camera swap meet last year I did pick up one of the Nikon 35S Microscope cameras (mainly for the lens on it - a 105.5,6 enlarging lens that I knew a friend of mine was looking for). US$ 80 got me the camera and lens and I got $40 back for the lens, A $40 35S is cheap but the camera is no less useles for that.
At the same swap I picked up a Nagel Pupille, a 127 format folding camera with the 50.3,5 Elmar on it, The camera was in trully "crappy" condition. The bellows could be used as tea-strainer and most of the leather had rotted away. However, the lens was in reasonable condition and the Compur shutter worked. Now, there was never a Nikon RF with a Leica lens, at least to my knowledge. Now this could rectify this lack of a niche product.
I machined an old extension tube to take the Elmar lens (at the moment it is a push fit, but I just need to make 3 set-screws tofix that), The tube had to be turned down about 7 millimeter to accurately focus the lens, I must admit that I used Leica loaner M8 last year to check the focus - a Compur M8!
It must be the wet weather that brings these kind of warped design ideas into ones head. It sounds to me that Brian suffers from the same ailment!
Still have 1/2 roll each in my 135/3,5 and 105/2,5 cameras as today it was raining heavilyand I did not feel like getting wet.
Loaded yeasterday's stuff up to the Flickr-site

- 35/1,2 and 85/3,5 mostly. The 85/3,5 is truly a sweet little lens. The 35/1,2 is of course in a class of its own. The roll with the 50/3,5 Heliar needs to be souped tomorrow, together with the early 35/3,5 roll.

Sad, but true (no shutter, right?).. however, the notion of a small, black Nikon with half and full frame capabilities is immensely appealing to me!Tom A said:A $40 35S is cheap but the camera is no less useles for that.

Kiu. mine is really rare now as I drilled holes in the top to put the Nagel folding finder there! Now I have to turn the etched part of the glass 90 degrees as it is biased towards verticals.NIKON KIU said:I think yours is rare...I always thought the garden variety is the other way.

I need to get a new tap for my set-screws for the Elmar too. The small 1,6mm taps do break witout much provocation. Oh well, there is still 8 days left of the month!
