Now if Barrett, Helen, John C., or Christian could firm up a date in February...
Cal
Last year, we had the event the same day as the Oscar. Why don't we do it again, i.e., Sunday, Feb 24th, 2013, if it works for the majority of us and our honorable judges, of course.

Perhaps someone has a spare gold statuette that they want to donate to the prizes?

I'm planning on being back in the area so I'm hoping that I can make it. If I do, I may have to borrow my old homemade 4x5SW point & shoot from its new owner (I had to sell it to feed some bills lst summer) to enter it into the beauty contest. I may want to put a grip on it though...

I'll also try to seduce Helen over to the Nikon 3.5cm f/1.8, cause my SP with that lens will definitely be there.

Phil,
Haha, I love it.
Do you put a lens cap on before you chain it to a bike stand?

Cristian,
Strangely, the 65mm Super Angulon has a 49mm thread and it covers the same angle of view on 4x5 as a 21mm SA does on 35mm. Yet the 21mm SA has that awful 48mm thread just to be different! That hood on there is a Phil Forrest Special Not-Yet-Patented Dremeled down 49mm wide-angle hood and there IS a cap for it! I should have put a bike chain on the U bolts that serve to shield the lens. I used those to carry it around when I was shooting it.

I still have a plan to one day build a body for my SA 58mm XL. I doubt it will have any U-bolts, although I can see how they could get you out of trouble if push came to shove. I only used my SA 65 for a few shots when I had it, but like all those Super Angulons it is pretty amazing.

I think my next project is going to modify one of those new 6x12 Lomos and stick at least a 65mm on it.

John that's a great idea.
Also know that I will dig through my stuff. (John says I have a camera museum. LOL) I will try to come up with some really great prizes for this event.
Also I'm being contacted already about having this Meet-Up in a convenient location because we have some people from outa state that will be grouping up and making a journey, not that they're filling tour buses yet.
I say we have the event back at Puck Fair on February 24th.
Prize Alert: I have a very retro light meter that is rather historic that is made of Bakelite. THe research I performed indicates that it is an early version of a Sekonic incidence meter before Sekonic became Sekonic. It was made in New York.
I also say we should enlarge this event and make the contest the primary event, but also have a big/massive/huge swap meet. Let's no longer be in denial: we are all gear whores.
We will likely take over the upstairs balcony for security reasons.

24th works for me.

Jim/Thambar,
Hope you are following this thread. The date is set, and you got your request for a downtown convenient location (Puck Fair). Hope your friends from Philly can attend.
Pro-Mone,
Your wish also came true. The February Meet-Up/Fouth Annual Beauty Contest/ Annual Spring Swap-Meet will be on February 24th at Puck Fair.
Hopefully you can attend and won't be water boarded and have problems with immigration.
Phil,
Hope we have a reunion in February.

Well, well. Though I disappeared I'd sure like to return to the scene. It's been too long. I saw Helen today (sold her a GF1), and I realized I'd already missed too many good meetups. See you guys Feb 24.

Welcome back Scott.
I have my girl friend wound up in a frenzy. Now we are doing an extreme makeover of our work studio. It seems that she wants my cameras as a decorative center piece of the room and is willing to buy some modular ELFA furniture to build out my digital studio.
She'll have a sewing section and take over my Juki comercial sewing machine. Already we started by making some cool standing desks. Basically we are going to create a work island and will be freeing up the walls in preparation for my Monochrome. This is a bit of a gut renovation and I need to cull down further. Will likely have some photography books to add to the prizes.
Also been getting some PM's from some new people that have real crazy gear. I'm rather comparatively sane. Think retro and rare. As always each Meet-Up is different, but all are fun.

Well, don;t forget your friend John here... if you have something good, I may give you cash for them instead of you giving them away.

Speaking of esoteric...
Speaking of esoteric...
I wish I still had my mahagony and brass 8x10 (or bigger?) 6 foot tripod made by Ansco to show off. That thing was amazing. It got lost somewhere in a move years ago.
If we're gonna have a swap, I have gear to sling.
Film, filters, a bag or two, miscellaneous medium format lenses in-shutter, maybe a Speed Graphic, a few Graflex lightsabers, enough flashbulbs to light up a medium size southwestern town for a few milliseconds, etc.

Helen,
you might wanna try the Monochrom for a "non-plastic" approach to digital
No need to do digital Helen... it may just not suit your style.

Of course you get first pick, but money among friends is kinda funny. Buy me hamburgers or lunch at curry Ya instead.
Anyways the girlfriend likes that modern luxury look and she has been encouraging me to go digital. I guess she's tired of living in a camera museum. LOL.
Basically we are getting rid of all the shelves on the walls and building a modern free standing work island. I think I will be taking advantage of a $250.00 rebate on an Epson 3880 (17 inch wide printer, rebate ends on January 31st). I already told her that's big, but she did not laugh.
Already set the hook by building out a standing desk. Already I spend too much time sitting on my butt at work surfing the Internet all day. LOL. All the cameras will be hidden in plain sight as a center piece of the room. LOL.
Tung,
Hope you don't mind that I'm giving Andre the HP 8190 set-up to make room. I need an Epson printer to go Piezography. Also know that somehow I got wedged into a subway turnstyle carrying everything home. I'll remember to bring your knapsack to the meet-up. Basically I looked like a homeless photographer heading uptown. LOL.
