It is cool to be badass.
Some of my biking culture resembles surfing in that for a part of my life I lived for riding and racing. Everything else seemed unimportant.

A big wave can push a surfer to a depth of 20-50 feet and only less than 20 seconds before another wave follows. Getting oriented and surfacing is an imperative.
This is where anerobic conditioning helps prevent drowning.

Curiously through photography (Blame Nikonos Project), there was this period I said I simply followed Weddings and Surfers.
I am risen in the Mediterranean but it's not a sea for Surfing. Did a couple of years ago decide to take some film shooting by and over the sea.
But the Atlantic/Pacific surfwaves. Respect. Never saw them actually in person...
I have bad luck with mountain bike buddies though, at least my age. Got one or two people to get a bike, and I met a nice chap here who says doing MTB... but not in the world I've ever done a proper ride with then.
Despite being used to lone exploration it's interesting to get someone along, well, maybe in Spring. Supposedly the 20-30F temps are one of the impediments for my (not quite) bike buddy.
The chap is moving out of town by mid spring supposedly. That only makes me more eager to do stuff!

In the summer it was riding with the Wall Street crowd, many who were investment bankers, out in the Hamptons every Saturday and Sunday. I would do the "B" ride, and for me the "B" was for babes. These gals needed no make-up, they had gym bodies, were ultra-fit, and looked amazing in lycra.
In the cooler winter we would mountain bike. Ever mountain bike on narrow hiking trails through pine barrens over fresh snow? The snow cleans the bike and there is a peaceful silence when riding at speed that is very gentile.
The summers were more aerobic conditioning, and the winter rides more like anerobic training and strength training. Once I recorded my resting pulse when I first woke up in the morning with a heart rate monitor under 30 BPM. My blood pressure was also crazy low all the time something like 90/50.
I was so fit that when I went to the doctors for a check-up the Nurse Practicioner asked if I felt alright because my pulse was so slow and my blood pressure so low.
I remember women in cars driving slow behind me admiring my butt. One time out in the Hamptons Iron Mike and I were riding side by side on a shoulder and a BMW convertable joined us keeping pace. When I looked over there were two girls who were either sisters or twins smiling at Mike and I with these sexy grins and at the same time they both said, "Good morning," like we had made their day.
Mike says, "Take two of those, go to bed, and call me in the morning." LOL.
Life can be that good and easy.

Looks like another flash mob. Back at the Harlem Public, whe it was a brand new bar we had a flash mob of about 50 camera geeks. How cool was that.

Next Sunday, February 10th, "Maggie's" commercial for the the company that is a household name will be broadcast on national television.
Maggie showed me three videos. One is a clip of her, another is a sort version of the commercial, and then there is the big one. The IQ and production value is all L.A. and Hollywood, as it was a Hollywood studio production.
I would say it has the same production value as a Superbowl commercial.

Also today Fashion Month begins for "Maggie," and she will be very busy attending shows, getting dressed by designers, and attending parties.
This life is too frenzied for me, and I don't like it. Call me a lazy slacker, but I really don't have any appetite for stress. Not fun for me.
My style is a long bike ride, walking a beach with a surf rod or a flyrod, playing guitar, walking a city by myself exploring, reading a book on the beach or in the woods, building a car, bike, stereo or printing...

I'll bring the negatives to the Camera Beauty Contest.
The Minolta 35 model 2 needs some TLC. The shutter curtains need to be reset. Comes with a 50/2.8 LTM lens.

Thanks for the tip. I already have two TCs which I'll be doing CLAs on soon and I have a 40/1.8 as well. I'm looking for longer focal lengths as well as wides but at the same time I should be satisfied with just a working T3. A T2 or T3 in black paint would be mighty nice.

The F2 is still the most bombproof/combat-resistant camera I've ever known, except for maybe the Nikonos V.
I have found that repairing cameras is my mode of "self-care" which I am now doing regularly since my work in school and at the mental health clinic has gotten heavier. I find it incredibly meditative to dive into a camera and figure out the puzzle of what is not working.
I smell a thesis...

You are not alone. Bob took apart a Rollieflex 3.5 that was jammed that he bought for "no money." Not only did he repair it, but it is as quiet and smooth as my Rollie 3.5 that was serviced by Harry Fleenor.
