I did a visual comparison using the 50mm framelines in my Bessa R3a and compared them to the viewfinder in the Fed 1g. Looks to me as if the Fed 1g
is showing more than 50mm. Could it be a 35mm or 40mm view?

The frameline in the FED-1g, like the vf of the Leica II/III, as well as similar finders found in cameras from the same era were made to show the field at 3 metres. The actual field of view changes with distances.

It could be that the Bessa VF is actually showing less- as some floating lines are made to show what the field would be at closer distances. The reason being, is that it's better to get more on the film than miss something later.

Don't have a Bessa VF, but my Epson shows less in its three framelines than what the lenses they represent actually see.
