Hey RFF,

I have a question regarding the Fed 2. When using lenses that focus closer than 1m, will focusing be accurate?

Thanks,
David

First, there are very few lenses for RF which can focus shorter than 1 metre, and these stop at about 0,9 to 0,8 metre. And the ones that really focus closer are very rare, like one of the LTM Nikkor 5cm or the old FED collapsible which had close focusing.

Second, the RF of most rangefinders, as they are, won't measure distances closer than 0,8 to 1 metre.

In case you do find such a lens which can go closer than 1 metre, you don't use the RF to focus it at close distances. You use a tape measure instead.

Which, of course, is not as accurate as using a rangefinder. Make sure you stop down lots.
I believe when using a tape measure, you start from the film plane, not the lens.
