Hey Guys,

I'm still quite new around here but you guys have been a great help so far.

After shooting about 3-4 rolls with my first FSU, a FED-2, I can't seem to rewind the film anymore. Luckily it only stopped working right towards the end of a roll, so I lost a couple of shots.

(Aside: I'm really impressed by the quality of the photos, especially since I'm only 18 and most of my life has been dominated by digital cameras :))

Anyway, when I press down on the shutter release and turn the knob so that I can rewind the film, I find that the film advance knob can turn clockwise (normal advance) but not anti-clockwise (film rewind).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Josh

Josh, the rewind release should do as you say, go down and wind back about a half turn and stay there while you rewind.
The wind knob never winds backwards. as there is a spring that stops it doing just that!. It takes no part in the rewinding.
If you can't rewind and could before, then something has changed.

Hi joshw, Murray is right! I only suggest to do some researches on google typing "FED2 manual" or something similar... you will find a pdf of the manual of your camera... otherwise send me an email thus I will attach the manual to a mail...

Hi Murray,

Greetings from Sydney! Glad there are other Aussies here too.

Now that you've told me that, is the film take-up spool supposed to be able to rotate so the film can be unwound after shooting a roll? It was rigid before, but I've loosened the screw inside the spool slightly, so it moves a bit, and now I can rewind! :) I feel rather stupid though!

Hopefully this works out.

Thanks for all your help, guys.

cheers, josh
