Hi folks,
Does the Fed 2 finder have a vernier (sharp edged) rf patch like Kiev 2, Leica M, etc.?
Thanks,
Charlie

Well, sorta. The finder image is round instead of rectangular, which does not help. You can use it to focus by aligning vertical lines, but it's not really as good as a Leica. On the good side though, the very long base rangefinder makes for accurate focusing, if the lens is dialed in correctly.

Hmmm--so is the Fed 2 patch like the one in Zorki's (round with fuzzy edges)?

Fairly similar, I thought. I liked the FED2 I had except for the VF. I've only owned two Zorkis: a 3M and an early 4 and I found both VFs were better for me but not because the patch itself was much different, just that the VF and RF patches were larger and so worked better for me.
Al Kaplan mentioned in some thread around here that rather than focus by getting edges to converge, he looks at the higher contrast when the image is focused. That might work better with a "fuzzy" RF patch?

I would say that the round patch in a FED-2 has more contrast and sharper edges than the patches in the Zorki-4. Of course a lot depends on the state of the mirrors in the RF mechanism.

sorry, not answering but asking more.. how big is VF magnification on fed 2 compare to zorki3/4. I have zorki 4, and it is easy to focus (due to high magnification). what I know is fed 2 with long baselength will be more accurate for focusing(I plan to buy it soon), but if the effective baselength is lesser than zorki, that's not going to be a good deal replacing my old z4 with fed2. Please advices
