Hello,

I recently CLA'd a FED 2 but I am having problems with the 1/250 and 1/500 shutter speeds. Lower speeds and B seem to function okay. This is what happens:
When I cock the shutter the curtains move to the right (viewed from the back) as per normal (Photo 1). When I press the shutter button, the curtains move slightly to the left (so I can see the edges on the right side) and they remain there as long as I have the shutter pressed (photo 2). Once I release the shutter button, the curtains travel to the left - as far as I can tell - normally (photo 3). If the speed is set to 1/250 (photo 2) there is a gap between the curtains of about 5mm when they are held on the right side; when set to 1/500 there is no gap - the curtains touch each other.
There are also three photos showing what goes on at the top with the shutter and shutter speed dials: Photo 1a - cocked shutter; photo 2a - depressed shutter; photo 3a - released shutter.
Note: I am far from being very experienced in this area, but I have repaired and CLA'd a Zorki 4 and some other basic cameras.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
