My FED 2 is still in the postal system and I've been looking at lenses.
There is a Steinheil Munchen Quinar that's M39 thread from a reputable source, but the seller doesn't know if it will fit my camera. Does anyone have experience with this lens or know if it's rangefinder or SLR. Also what might it be worth and is it any good?
Thanks

The lens is most likely for the Braun Paxette which also has M39 thread, but different register.

Googling it brings up references to SLRs so it may not be an RF lens at all. I have no personal knowledge of it, though the comments I can find say it's a nice lens.
You could do worse than the Jupiter 11 if you want a longer lens (135mm f/4.0). I wouldn't describe it as exceptional but it's not bad either. At f/4.0 it's not the fastest either but it's adequate.

Look for a Jupiter-8 50/2.0, an Industar 61 50/2.8 or a Jupiter-3 50/1.5.
All Russian built, very adequate lenses. I have a Jupiter-8 for sale if you like, for little cash. When in EU or UK postage won't kill you either. Just PM me if interested.
When looking for newer glass, most if not all LTM Voigtländer lenses will fit, save for the widest ones that might catch the shutter, not sure there.
Long lenses: look for Komura, Acall, Honor, Sun etc 135mm, most are 3.5, 3.8 or 4.0 all the same lens basically and very nice. These are cheap most of the time.

The Jupiter 8 is fine, as is the Industar 26 (which might come with the camera?).
I am also waiting on (my second) FED 2.

When my Fed2 was in the mail I started shopping for the J8. Once it arrived I put a few rolls through with it's native Industar26m. Man I love that lens. If a Jupiter fell into my lap I wouldn't cry, but I no longer feel the need.

I am not surprised. I am inclined to think that in the case of Soviet lenses, the lens name is less important in determining the results you get than the particular lens.

It has a 26M on it. I'm not sure about the Jupiter 8, the extra stop may be useful. I'm looking at wider really, but I knew the seller on this occasion, unfortunately he'd bought it by mistake.
Thanks for the other suggestions. I've been wondering what I can add to my list for this camera. I already suffer with LBA with my M42 lenses.

Ok, so I have a J8 & 11 on their way, along with the Universal finder. Now I just need something wide.

The J12 is a nice wide angle. My Fed 2 came with an Industar 22. When collapsed it;s a small package. Joe

I did a simple shooting test with all of my 50mm FSU lenses: Jupiter-8 (-56), Jupiter-8 (-92), Industar-61 (black), Industar-26 (chrome) and a couple of collapsible Industars. I wasn't expecting to find out that IMO the best of the bunch was indeed the lowly Industar-26.

The J-12 I got from Oleg Khalyavin gave me many good results (see my RFF gallery) and is now in the Philippines, chugging away.
If you want a J-9 and a turret finder, I may want to get rid of those I have.

How much for the J9?
I've just bought a KMZ Universal finder unfortunately, which I guess is the one you have?
