FED-2 rangefinder is dead - how to repair it?

OK thanks! I'll try this. How does the adjuster-screw goes back into the yellow one mentioned above, which I understand is fixed on the body (am I wrong)? Are these 2 separate screws?

The screw in the body is just to provide a guide hole for putting a very small screwdriver through and meeting the adjuster-screw inside, it has no other purpose.

i think it got you confused because you removed top cover... put cover back and adjust just with small screwdriver...

Following the advice of Wolves I have removed the pivot, cleaned the spring in lighter fluid, re-tightened it a bit, and indeed had to slightly unscrew the screw controlling the adjuster-screw thread, which appeared to be too tight.





I've just put everything back, and re-adjusted horizontal/vertical alignment at infinity, plus close-range tweaking.

It seems to be perfect now, I'm gonna try a new film - hopefully this beautiful camera is fully functional now 😀

Glad to be of help. Not too bad seeing how it's years since I was "under the hood" of an FSU (not been needed, luckily).
