It was about a week ago that a young guy picked up a box at the post office. It contained well packed parts of 4 dead bodies which Kim had sent him. The evidence of Kim's crime. Only he knew what to do with them, how to bring them back to life...

. . .

Almost a week later, a young student unable to concentrate on studying, is doing something on his table. A set of precision screwdrivers and a few pairs of pliers are lying on the table. "Done" he says.

Now really  I just finished putting together one "Franken-fed" FED-2. Out of 4 bodies only 1 had shutter curtains in good shape, so I used it as the base, and with parts from the other bodies and top and bottom plates painted by Kim... ta-daaaa...

PS: Only missing thing is the bezel around the RF window. If anyone has a spare one he's willing to send me, I'd even pay the postage... Thanks in advance.
(In fact I need 2 of them: There is another FED project waiting in the cupboard... and it too is missing the bezel around the RF window)

Thanks.

I know this is just plain showing-off, but I just had to...

This camera took me deeper into the shutter mechanisms than any previous project. I'll need it for the other project "FED-3a" where the shutter curtains came unglued and I have no clue where they should start...

It was worth the postage then! Sorry about the Bezels. 😱 They all got sent to other RFF members some time ago. 😉 I think one of them is on someone's Canon!

As the the paint job, it was never supposed to be used and was bit of an experiment. 😱 A coat of self etch promer. 4 or 5 light coats of satin black enamel and then lettered. I wasn't happy with the lettering so it went to one side and I did another. I then wanted the gloss finish so I tried a spray gloss "plastic" coating. It was a bit thicker than other paint I have used and there were a couple of sags. I would have been tempted to redo it but I am glad it has all found a good home.

Bearing in mind this is how it looked when sent, you have a super job.

I have the remains of a FED 6 and a FED 2 still laying around. A source of screws and bits for me. You can have the rest, RF mechs etcetera. I will have a look what VF glasses/bezels are in there.

Thank you all for comments 😀

This is a proof that FEDs ARE EVERLASTING !

At least as long as the shutter curtain is good (or one knows how to change them), and no parts are damaged...

PS: laptoprob: I only need the bezel. I have enough optical wedges (the thing you rotate to calibrate the RF vertically). And thanks for your kind offer... I hopey you find it 😉
