FED 2 viewfinder myopic

I own a FED 2 that was painetd black somewhere in Russia to make it more appealing.

When I got it rangefinder image worked well, however the rangefinder looked like a wide angle lens, very negative, so as to disturb my eye (20/20).

It became better by using the camera wearing strong reading glasses (+2).

Suddendly after maybe a little knock it turned so strongly positive that looking through it is like watching things throughout a positive lens, lets' say a plus 2 - 3 lens.

Telemeter appears to be still working in the fuzzy viewfinder.

I didn't reset the rangefinder adjustment knob in any way.

I guess the embellishment by painting was made by a non professional so something was remounted wrongly.

I would like to dismantle it, clean it and remount it, however the rangefinder adjustment knob appears sticky, no way to unscrew it, to boot.

The rangefinder infinity adjustment is behind a screw on the front of the camera top. The outer screw is only a cover. If you want to remove the top plate, you can do so without disturbing this cover screw. You can access the actual adjustment screw with the top removed.

There might be some paint seepage inside. That could account for the stickiness. The diopter adjustment is pretty simple. Usually the problem is that it is too loose, not that it is sticky.

Sounds like the diopter adjust lever is not engaged with the diopter. Take the top off and check and give it a good cleaning.........
