Either I overhaul this one, or put new curtains in one I got from GBHill. Either way, it's going to be time consuming.

Time consuming indeed. About 1,5 year ago someone from US sent over two Zorki's 4 to have them serviced/repaired. And with them he sent a bag with parts (including loose shutter blinds) with a note stating that he thought it should be the complete set of parts of a FED2. After some time consuming puzzling I could restore a complete camera - there was only one screw missing, the one that holds the winding knob:
parts that came out of the bag:
the restored camera with my own J3 - all test shots came out well:

Nice work, Ron. Is there a trick to getting the shutter release collar, and winder off? I tried to open up the Zarya, but couldn't get those two off.

It didn't strike me that there is a lot of info in the Stickies above. Then I came across your excellent web version of the tear-down, Ron, and realized I already had it bookmarked from a time way before I bought my FEDs. I hate getting old. Thanks for all the good info.
