FED-5 - readjust rangefinder?!?!

I shot a roll, and half the shots were badly backfocused. I checked the rangefinder and found it was way out of adjustment.

What did I do?!?! Why would it change?

And... is it a bad idea to put some clear nail polish on the sensor hinge, to keep this from happening again?

It happened to me too, relax... In soviet russia rangefinder adjust you! Check for the sticky with rf adjusment here. It so happends that i have also a fed 5 and it too backfocuses. Haven't figured out why but yesterday i adjusted the rf by infinity and then checked the close (1 m) focusing and it seems that everything is ok.

Thanks. I know the RF was out of alignment; I am more curious about "how do I make sure it doesn't happen again?" It seems after a week, it shouldn't be out of alignment again.
