fed nkvd from ebay??

more pics

more pics

finally i got more pics, the bottom spring is definitely fed, as well as the curtains tension cams, and the film spool spindle looks pre-war, so i guess the difference in the center front screw and the screws below the rewind knob is because a production mismatch on the last year before the WWII.

I agree about the pre-war FED assessment but the rangefinder cover definitely does not match the body. To recap, the s/n on the cover is 76299. The three screws under the rewind knob disappeared after 87000 and the screw was moved from under the mount after 92000. From your photo, it looks like an aluminium shutter crate. These did not appear until about s/n 125000 (1940). The engraving on these cameras was slightly different and this is one thing that the Soviets did not mix and match.

I would suggest that the rangefinder cover was replaced at some point as either a repair, possibly after a fall which would also explain the non-standard accessory shoe (a point to which I am sticking) and lens or it was changed by a seller to make it more attractive to collectors who prefer the lower, rarer numbers. Either way, it is an interesting part of history and shouldn't impact on the camera's picture taking ability.

Paul
