FED Viewfinder Fix

Thank you for posting your instructions. To tell you the truth, I dunno if I'll try it............yet. Since I'm giving away my spare, I can't afford to mess up the one I have now.

I wonder......is there a way to show the before and after?

The guy who sold me the camera is gonna replace the VF that was damaged during shipping.

So you can afford to mess up that dingy old VF. Good luck if your trying it.

I'll try. I will not take my cameras apart. I don't want to realign my FED2 with the f0.95. That is a pain.

I'll take pictures front and back of the prism in the cameras. One changed and one original under the same lighting conditions.

I'll try it Sunday with my F1N and bellows and macro lens.

I measured through my altered and unaltered prisms with my Luna Pro. the absolute values were 9 1/3 for the original and 12 1/3 for the altered. That is a difference of THREE stops. I measured several time, so I am sure of the precision.

I took some macro shots today of the two cameras. I don't think I'll have any good shots. I've taken lots of macro shots before, but I've never had to focus through another optical system. I tried with and with out bellows. With 35, 50, and 100mm macro lenses. I used C41 film. We will see what it is like when it comes back from the drug store.

Hi,

do I understand correctly that the main effect of this modification is to use the beamsplitter only for the actual part of the VF/RF where the RF patch appears and have the light pass through the rest unhindered?
