Photographers from the 36 countries that speak Latin-derived languages can enter a contest.
Unión Latina, an organization that represents Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Romanian and Catalan-speaking countries, presents the Martin Chambi Photography Award, focusing on this year's theme - family.
Winner will receive EU€5,000 (about US$6,590) and a Martin Chambi photograph.

The DCCA Visual Arts Residency Program in Delaware is seeking applications for the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 artist residencies. The ten-week residency has an $8,000 stipend and offers a unique opportunity to create artwork with an under-served community group in Wilmington. The deadline for applications is May 18th, 2012.

Lab Projects invites artists working in film and photography to apply for production-based residencies at Four Corners in 2012. Three artists will be supported to produce a body of new work using dedicated space and facilities.
The residency provides:
  • Artists’ fee of £4,500 per person.
  • Up to £5,000 of Four Corners’ and on-site partner facilities, studio, room space and production materials/expenses.
  • In-house mentor.
  • Showcasing opportunities.
  • Workshops on digital media innovation.
 
The Alexia Foundation is seeking applicants for the Women's Initiative, which will focus on the global plight of women. Applicants should submit proposals for projects on any form of abuse of women in the United States but with global significance.
Photojournalists from anywhere in the world can participate, but submitted work must address the struggle women in the U.S.
The winner will receive $US25,000 and will have six months or until April 1 to complete the project.
The initiative will culminate in the Fall of 2013 with a symposium co-sponsored by Syracuse University, a fundraising social event and a major photographic exhibition highlighting the Women's Initiative photographic work along with the work of previous Alexia photographers who have done work on women's issues.
The application deadline is August 15.

The WYNG Masters Award is an annual photography event organized by the WYNG Foundation.Entry is open to all residents of Hong Kong and other countries. Photographs must be taken in Hong Kong or the subject of the work must be related to Hong Kong. All genres of photography and techniques used to produce images are welcome for submission. The only criteria is that 1) the work must be either photographed in Hong Kong or be about Hong Kong, and 2) that the work is related to the WYNG Masters Award 2012 chosen topic: Poverty. The WYNG Masters Award program includes an additional component – the WYNG Poverty Project. The WYNG Poverty Project recipient will receive a sum of HK$250,000 to develop, with the WYNG Photography Project Trustees, a photographic project highlighting a subject or theme related to poverty in the context of Hong Kong, one of the world’s most dynamic urban centres.

International Photographer in Residence Programme 2013

Archisle: The Jersey Contemporary Photography Programme, hosted by the Société Jersiaise (Jersey Society) in the British Channel Island of Jersey aims to promote contemporary photography through an ongoing programme of exhibitions, education and commissions. The Archisle project connects photographic archives, contemporary practice and experiences of island cultures and geographies through the development of a space for creative discourse between Jersey and international practitioners.
Archisle is currently inviting applications for the position of Photographer in Residence launching in 2013. This is an exciting post commencing in April/May running for six months through to September/October 2013. The residency provides the following key benefits and opportunities:
  • £10,000 bursary for the commission/production of a body of work and solo exhibition
  • Studio space with access to inkjet printing and office/internet resources
  • Living accommodation and (limited) expenses
  • Travel costs (subject to approval)
A key focus of the Archisle project is to engage the residency programme with Jersey culture and community through audience and participatory involvement. In addition to the commission and exhibition of work responding to the cultural context of the island of Jersey, the resident will be contracted to teach photography one day per week (or equivalent) over the six month duration of the project. This teaching will be delivered in a workshop format to a range of educational and community groups. Applications are therefore encouraged from practitioners possessing the desire, enthusiasm and a proven ability to impart technical skills and develop critical understanding of contemporary photography across a diverse range of participants.
Applicants are requested to submit:
  • Examples of recent work (min 10/max 20 images)
  • Statement describing current practice
  • Statement of objectives for the residency including an outline commission/exhibition proposal
  • A current CV including details of past exhibitions/publications

ArtFunkl is delighted to announce the launch of the Experimenta series of residencies for Visual Artists, Writers and Film/Video Makers. This is a special residency project sponsored by ArtFunkl and there are no fees for artists to attend.
The aim of this new residency series is to bring together combinations of writers and artists to work side by side, creating new energies and new possibilities for creative dialogue. It is an opportunity for artists and writers to open up their practice to ideas and methods of working outside their habitual processes, a chance to explore and experiment.
Manchester is a city which is active in many areas of the Arts. It also has it’s own strong identity and cultural definition, which is fluid and constantly re-inventing itself. Due to the size and location of the city in the north West of England, there is a freedom in the creative environment which is not readily found in larger cities where the Art-World perhaps operates within stricter parameters.

The MICA Artist Residency in Brittany is housed in the medieval
riverside village of Léhon, a "Petite Cité de Caractère." Léhon is
graced by a ninth-century abbey and its gardens and by the ruins of
the oldest fortress in Brittany on a hill overlooking the village.
Léhon is a short walk along the river
Rance to the city of Dinan, which holds the coveted designation "Cité
d'Art et d'Histoire" and is close to Dinard, St. Malo, Mont Saint
Michel, and Rennes. The fishing villages and beaches of the Emerald
Coast are but a short drive away.

Competitive residencies are open to artists and artist-couples working

For the fourteenth time, Akademie Schloss Solitude is granting approx. 70 residency fellowships of three to twelve months in duration. More than 1.000 artists from around 100 countries have developed and advanced projects at the Akademie since its opening in 1990, creating a close-knit, global network of Solitude alumni that expands from year to year. The Akademie persues an intense exchange between artistic and scientific disciplines. With the art, science & business program the transfer of knowledge and experience between the arts, the sciences and economics can be deepened to create new synergies of creativity, inventiveness and management.
International artists are invited to apply from the following disciplines: Architecture (design, landscape architecture, urban planning), Visual Arts (including performance art), Performing Arts (stage design, dramatic texts, dramaturgy, musical theater, performance, direction, drama, dance), Design (fashion, costume, product and furniture design, visual communication), Literature (essay, criticism, poetry, prose, translation), Music/Sound (interpretation, sound installation, sound performance, composition) and Video/Film/New Media (including video installation, fiction and documentary).
With this year’s application round for residency fellowships from 2013–2015, two further fellowships for filmmakers (fiction and documentary) will be allocated within the discipline Video/Film/New Media. Each residency fellowship is endowed with 10.000 Euro (stipend and project budget) and is awarded in cooperation with the MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg.
A specialist juror, jointly selected by the MFG Filmförderung and Akademie Schloss Solitude is responsible for the allocation of the fellowships. The final selection will be made in cooperation with the acting juror for Video/Film/New Media.
The jurors for these two further fellowships from 2013–2015 are Böller und Brot (Wiltrud Baier and Sigrun Köhler). Besides the artistic and filmic quality of the application, the applicant’s interest in cooperating with the film, art, and music scene in Baden-Württemberg will be crucial.
The general application criteria and modalities will apply. Interested persons are asked to apply within the discipline Video/Film/New Media.
Furthermore, scholars, scientists and professionals from the disciplines of the Humanities (including social sciences), Exact Sciences/Computer Sciences (with this year‘s focus on computer science, human computer interaction, electrical engineering, information systems, information science, and free and open source software), Economy/Economics, and Chess are invited to apply.
Persons up to 35 or if older who have completed a university or college degree within the past five years are welcome to apply. Currently enrolled university or college students (at the time of application) will not be considered for selection. Each fellowship recipient is granted Euro 1,100 per month, in addition to free lodging.
The independent jury consists of the jury chairperson Corinne Diserens and eleven specialist jurors who independently allocate the fellowships for their respective disciplines.

Berwick Residencies – now accepting applications

As part of its new Arts Council funding, in April 2012 The Maltings Theatre & Cinema announced the formation of Berwick Visual Arts, a new initiative that brings visual arts in Berwick-upon-Tweed under one banner, including existing arts venues, potential new venue partners, and the wider visual arts community. Berwick Visual Arts is pleased to announce the first of two new residency opportunities for visual artists to research and develop a project and/or new work. The residency programme will enable artists to respond to what Berwick offers in terms of its unique history, coastal and border location, unusual spaces, archives and collections, social contexts and to work with its people. For the first residency Berwick Visual Arts is working in collaboration with Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival to offer an artist working with moving image the opportunity to show the resulting work as part of the Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival in late September 2013. Eligibility
The residency opportunity requires the applicant artist to have been out of college (BA graduate) for a minimum of 3 years and to be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to their artistic practice and evidence a body of work and strong track record, through new work, projects, exhibitions, publishing,and/or commissions. Part of this track record should be specifically in moving image work, though we welcome applications from artists working across different art forms.
The Residencies
The residency is for a 6 month period and is required to produce an outcome for the Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival 2013 which will take place during September 2013
Each year Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival responds to a chosen theme, and in 2013 it will explore the region’s long-standing historical, industrial and cultural links with Northern Europe, through cinema and the moving image.
Funding
The funding available for the residency is up to £12,000. This figure is based on a residency period of 6 months spent living and working in the area. This figure is inclusive of artist’s commission fee, accommodation in Berwick and material costs. Production and exhibition costs for the final outcome of the residency will be supported by Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival and agreed through further discussion with the festival.
Berwick Visual Arts will offer advice on accommodation options and rental rates are comparatively modest in Berwick.
The funding available remains the same when applied to an artist collaboration, where 2 or a group of artists work as one practice.
Application process
Artists are asked to submit their proposals by completing the application form provided. Shortlisted artists will be invited for interview during the week beginning the 12
th November 2012.
A payment of £150-200 will be given to those artists invited to interview and who are travelling from outside the area to cover travel and subsistence. Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:
• Eligibility – see point 2.0
• Artistic merit of examples previous work submitted.
• Strength of written proposal – including concept and response to themes.
• Impact and benefits to artists own practice .
• Impact and benefit to Berwick-upon Tweed, Berwick Visual Arts and Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival.

Join us for this two-part workshop focusing on hands-on grant writing skills and individual feedback, led by experienced grant writing consultant Melissa Sandor with expert panelists Lynn Lobell (QCA) and Steven Hitt (LPAC). Participants will explore how to create a thorough and successful grant proposal during the first session, and gain insight into the inner workings of a professional arts panel during the second session of the workshop. The first 12 participants who register and submit a draft proposal by November 16th are eligible to receive feedback on their proposal during the second session's mock panel review. These participants must commit to both sessions. Registration is on a first come first serve basis.

The Pearl Conard Gallery at The Ohio State University Mansfield seeks solo or group exhibition proposals for spring semester 2013. Proposals on unlimited topics and issues may include 2-D, 3-D, video, technology integrated media, installation, and performance art. There is no fee to submit a proposal.

To apply, please send 10 jpegs or URL, work sample list, resume, and statement or project proposal to pearlconardgallery@gmail.com. In the work sample list, please indicate the title of work, medium, dimensions/duration, installation specifications, and equipment specifications. Please submit all documents in the .doc or .pdf format.

Funded in the mid-1980s by a gift from the John and Pearl Conard Foundation, the Pearl Conard Art Gallery at The Ohio State University at Mansfield hosts an exciting series of exhibitions each year. The gallery is located on the Mansfield campus of The Ohio State University, a regional campus located approximately 80 miles southwest of Cleveland and 65 miles northeast of Columbus. The gallery features hardwood floors, UV coated glass walls on three sides, and a large lighted glass block lantern over the entrance hall.
