I also just received a Jupiter-12 for my Kiev cameras, works great and will be taking some pictures with it today.
My question is how do you mount filters or a lens shade to this lens as it has no threads and if it's a push on type does it interfere wit changing the f-stop.

Hey Bob, the J12 has an internal 40.5mm screw mount, you can mount a filter or a shade there without problems... well at least for the shade I guarantee it, my J-12 is currently mounted with a vented shade (also makes it easier to select aperture)... for the filter, i'm waiting for a 5cm - f/2 Sonnar ... it should come with a 40.5mm filter, so I'll try to mount it on the J-12 as well... cheers! // max

P.S. : you can see a vented shade here : http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17581&page=1 😉

Thanks

I missed those internal threads, have found that the ring on the lens that changes the f-stop is quite stiff and hard to turn, will see if moving the ring will help it to move more smoothly.

Found a simple solution to my filter, lens shade and tight f-stop ring, what I did was mount a 40.5mm to 49mm adapter, now I find the f-stop ring turns much more smoothly, more area to grab,( as you said darkkavenger in your reply above with your lens shade) plus now I can use the 49mm lens shade I have on hand and with this adapter I now can use all of my Hoya square filters which I have quite a number of, I aslo used another 40.5 to 49mm adapter on my J-11 135mm lens and that has worked out just find.
