Film heaven!

Sorry, something is screwy with B&H's site. Check the bottom of this link:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=neopan&N=0&InitialSearch=yes

What I received is Neopan SS, not ACROS, but I don't even know the what the difference between their results are :D. Too many minor differences in film. I know what i like and I try new films when I get them for free or cheap!

The B&H website says SS is discontinued. Maybe you got the dregs from the warehouse :D

SS is an old school B&W film with more grain than Acros. Maybe the B&W experts here can add more details.

Yes, Yodobashi is the place. They even have one floor devoted to tripods, various heads to go on them. Photography is as much a place in Japanese culture as their traditional arts and crafts as far as I can tell. When I visit there I feel very at home as a photographer apart from me just loving being there.

I don't know about Japan in general but in the areas of Tokyo I frequent it seems there are less smaller local shops carrying film - as if most of the film is consolidating in certain places, Yodobashi being one of them.

I feel lucky to be here though, with enough space and interest for digital and film. I know from some photographer friends that they shoot 120 for magazine assignments (fashion and portraits) and from others who shoot assignments digital, but shoot film for their personal or art projects like many amateurs also seem to do..

Try to find Fuji HR II minicopy BW film, 6ISO nominal speed. :D

Sadly Minicopy has been discontinued. Don't think SS has though, the SS and SSS films date back a long time, I think even predating Tri-x. SS is an excellent old school film and very flexible.

This is Neopan SS @1250, Xtol stock 7mins at 28 degrees, good agitation.

Oh No. Minicopy has been dropped!!I still have 12-14 rolls left so I will "cherish" them until summer. Great film.
The Neopan SS is very good as a medium, rather bullet proof film. Far more forgiving than Acros/Delta/+X and actually very nice smooth tones. It is a little bit like Kodak's EK5322, the +X movie stock. Fine grain and great mid-tones.
