Film portraiture using only natural light

Hmmm, what is unnatural light?

My interpretation is that natural light is sunlight, whereas "unnatural" light is artificial light from light bulbs, flashes, strobes, etc...

What do others think?

In some photography circles, I've heard the term "available light", which can include existing artificial lights, but without additional modifiers like flashes and strobes. Make of that what you will... 😉

Natural light is light that exists in nature.
Available light is exactly what it says. The light that is "available" to make a photograph without resorting to flash or additional light. This can be daylight or a candle or moonlight or any light bulbs as long as it is available to you.
