I guess 35 mm film bodies are "leftovers", ripping off the lens to put on your digi-thingabob.
Lens prices on the other hand seems to be rising. Anything that can be even remotely adapted to something digital is auctioned off. They are the new tulip trade.

Funny you mention it like that. I grabbed an old Pentax spotmatic with a 55 f1.8 from a family member about 12 months ago. The idea was to use the 55 f1.8 on a digi-thingabob but i thought why not run a roll of film first. Here i am 12 months on and i dont own a digi-thingabob other then an iphone.

Yes they can be a good deal, at least the models that were very popular and made in large quantities. Of course there are plenty of rare or simply sought after models that command serious money, e.g. Alpa's.

slrs are indeed quite cheap now. for me it seems, that there is some hype up rangefinders at the moment.
most people who try film, want something like a rangefinder or some kind of mf-gear.
i guess, as they have already a digital slr, they want something which offers them quite a different experience.

I'm exactly one of those, nowadays more interested in rangefinders and MF - although I did once have an EXAslrs are indeed quite cheap now. for me it seems, that there is some hype up rangefinders at the moment.

On flea markets is very easy to get A-brand stuff for next to nothing, especially the electronic ones.

I'm looking for one for my daughter, trying to decide between a $75 Canon FTb with 3 lenses or a OM-1 for about the same price, or a Canon A1 again about the same....
I've owned all of the above down the years and, assuming they are all in good working order, I'd go for the OM1n every time. Beautiful little camera (in every sense of the word "beautiful") and superb gems of lenses.
At present I have an OM2n + 50mm f1.8 (£80) and an OM4 + 50mm f1.4 (£95) + 28mm f2.8 and 100mm f2.8 (which cost a bit more...)

It is actually kind of shocking how many terrible lenses are being offered on ebay for hundreds of dollars, and how many nice cameras are going for a pittance with only two or three bidders.
I paid $0.99 for the Edixa I use all the time. Paid $0.99 for the Praktiflex I used for the past four years until it jammed up. I think I spent the most on my Miranda at something like $35, and filled the total out to a bit over $100 acquiring the WLF, 100mm and 35mm lenses. I also spent $30 on an Exa, but only because that was the BIN and I didn't feel like watching several auctions for a week.
Picked up a K1000 locally for $30, including three lenses. Unfortunately the battery was left in it.
Truth is you can get lots of decent SLRs for under $50, and even something like a Nikon F or F2 is doable for $100 or less if you watch for it.

recently got Spotmatic and 1.8/55 for 70€ + shipping, so not bad though not nearly as cheap as some others here.

goamules, get the Olympus. More likely to have less problems and a delight to use. Much smaller package for both body and lenses, and the lenses are better performers. Some of the best deals going on Craigs are the OM1's and OM2's. Bob.

...a minty black paint Pentax ES, 28/3.5, 55/2 & 135/3.5 for $75 & this stuff looks like it was never used! Ditto on another black paint Pentax but this time an ESII & 50/1.4 for $42, I was stunned!

Contax Aria, for a little over £100, from a dealer, and in as-new condition. I couldn't tell it had been used other than a little dust on the viewfinder external glass. Then a bit of wheeling and dealing [buying a job lot of stuff and selling what I didn't want] got me a Zeiss Planar 50mm f1.7 for it for another 40 or so.

Loads of good deals on Canon FD stuff at the moment. I could have had a T90 and a 50mm f1.4 for about £75-80. I had to pass, as I'd just bought the Contax.

I have been shooting Contax SLRs with both Zeiss and Yashica lenses.
Last week, I checked KEH and found a Contax 167MT in bargain condition for $23.50 plus shipping. I've received the camera and it is in excellent condition.
I'm astounded how inexpensive I can find good film SLRs.
A corollary: No one will pay to have a camera like this repaired, with good ones available so cheaply.
What your "quality camera for cheap" story?
A couple of years ago I got a Contax 167mt in great shape out of Canada for $50.00. I thought I got a good deal. In fact I did. Shipping was more than I wanted, but even at $80 I as happy. The Contax 167mt was one fine camera, and still is.

so...you are responsible for the decimation
of the contax slr on the big k eh? i was looking
at the aria...
No, I only took the BGN 167MT. I did notice several Contax listings disappear a week ago. Already have an Aria.
