The great experiment is almost over. As I've said, I have a Canon 5D for commercial applications. Great camera and lenses. So, I reasoned, why couldn't I use this same outfit for personal work? Turns out I could and I had the fine feeling for awhile of being liberated from film and its attendant costs.
But, it wasn't the same. The personal stuff looked largely the same as the commercial stuff and there weren't many good ideas to be seen. There is something visceral and immediate about working with a film RF that just wasn't there with digital. The level of involvement with the image seems higher with film. Or, maybe it's my imagination.
Today, I wandered by my local dealer and inquired about the black Voigtlander T I had sold him a while back. He said the T was well, thank you, and that he'd run one roll through it and put it back on the shelf. It was available.
Now I have it. I need to get a lens and finder. Oh, and some film, too. No hurry. There's something comforting about hanging on to old technology.
