Does anyone have any suggestions as to which are the most readily available films (BW, color negative and slides) which have a less dense base and therefore are easier to obtain good scanning results with?
Many thanks

What am I missing? Why is base density a problem? A good scanner will just adjust exposure to make up.

All Slide films have a very low base density. With them it concerns the highlights though. Not sure this helps.

I haven't used a huge range of black and white films but Neopan 400 is definitely the best for scanning that I've tried. Over exposure is the enemy of scanning IMO ... the best scans I get are from slightly underexposed negs that look a little thin!

I've had good scanning results with most any film, from today's Fuji and Kodak color negative and slide films, to Tri-X of years ago.

I agree that the density of the base is a very minor factor in getting a good scan.
