Filter Question

I was looking at the pics from Jorge's post earlier today and had to ask what a "center filter" is? I believe the lens was the 15mm Distagon?

Center filters compensate for the falloff that occurs with extreme wideangle lenses. On some extreme wideangle lenses, the center area recorded on film receives more exposure then the edges. The center filter has a darker center then the surrounding area to compensate for the exposure difference.
