0.75 filters should screw just fine on 0.5 threads, the only minus is that you may not be able to screw them down fully (no big deal) ; OTOH, using a vintage 0.5 filter onto 0.75 threads would not work (the filter won't secure and you may lose it eventually, or, worse, you may not be able to remove it once screwed on).
