I always try to have a filter up in front of each lens. I use only film , my cameras ,for the most part are 50 + years old. If I use a newish Filter marked DIGITAL is it "better" or is that just a marketing ploy?

My intuition tells me it is a marketing ploy. Filters are just tinted glass or gel, right? My D100 came with a camera strap that has "Digital" embroidered on it, but it works the same as the one on my Nikon Ftn.

Pure marketing. Well, almost pure. Allegedly, digicams are more sensitive to non-coated or non-multi-coated filters than film. Note 'allegedly' (it's hard to see why) and in any case almost all good filters today have excellent coatings, whether they are marked for digital or not.

Cheers,

R.
