Well, you two seem to agree on this, and you seem to have decided you like it. This being so, it would be great if you could share some of the results of the solid technical testing you've done (as you suggested to the other poster, MTF and color separation characteristics at a variety of apertures, focal distances and ISO settings etc.)

I'm exited about the potential of the camera. Specifically, I'm excited about the potential for an RF-like UI with some improvements (live view for accurate framing close-up, real-time histogram, simple modeless manual controls), in a camera that will probably have typical APS-C performance (which is, these days, very good indeed).

I have made essentially no statements about this specific camera's imaging performance beyond what I've written above.

My complaint was about people trashing the camera's performance based on an equivalent lack of hard data. If I do that, it's dumb. If you do that, it's dumb.

You know why? Because there is so little data to go on.

Except that the posting you refer to contained neither a "trashing" or a scientifically rigorous opinion, it literally just said "meh".

As you rightly point out, "meh" can be suspected to be a word without technical meaning; I go one step further and state the assumption that it is simply a subjective statement of not being overly impressed. It seems unnecessary to me, as you demand, to corroborate that kind of statement with MTF data and colour separation characteristics. To me that seems like bringing a chromatograph to the restaurant for the sake of backing up your opinion about the food. But then, tastes differ.

I'm glad that you interpreted it (correctly) as a rather snarky joke. It was not, however, a misquote. If I'd left out the second half, it would have been.
