Finally got one -- Nikon 10.5cm/2.5 in LSM

I had a Nikkor 85/2, but sold it as I prefer Nikkor 105/2.5 much better. I really do think that 105/2.5 is the best Nikkor lens in LTM. Others are very good, but 105 is just outstanding. No wonder its a has status of cult lens.
Here is another pic with it:

Yes, the 85/2 is a Sonnar, but for some reason I prefer the 105mm with its biting sharpness.

I agree completely on the sharpness of the 10.5cm f2.5. But the 8.5cm f2 is no slouch either. A picture of of my 2 week old boy in ICU @ ISO 640:

While a bit of a challenge to focus - it's a great lens, probably best long lens for RF I ever used. I even like it better than my M-Hexanon 90/2.8 and that says a lot!

Well, I refer to everything - sharpness, bokeh, way it draws, etc. Plus I never used Nikkor 50/3.5 - do you have pics from one? I cant recall even seeing any pics from that lens.

Stop it! This is not fair. No more talk of this lens until someone sends one to me.

Nice photos everyone. I must be content to use my 8.5cm f/2.0 lens.

It had the reputation as the perfect lens for tight head shots. I used a friend's a few times way back when. I never did a side by side comparison with the 85/2 Nikor because I had yet to purchase one. I'm happy with the 85's wide open performance and it works well with the 90mm frame line. I think that the true comprison would be the 105 wide open vs. the 85 stopped down a bit to about f/2.5.

Thanks! no tripod - all handheld. I rarely use tripod for 35mm. Even 6x6 I try to hand hold as much as I can.

hacker: i hope your son is now doing fine.

back to lens talk, generally I prefer not to use tele on rangefinder camera, i find it difficult to focus and frame accurately, and since I only have S2 (no SP), shifting between finders is definitely not a pleasure. 105 is a wonderful lens, here is one 105/2.5 Auto C version shot with my D40.

Thought I'd take my Nikkor 10.5cm for a late night walk a few days back - here are a couple from it :

I tried my best to handhold it. Even wide open shots above were a bit of a challenge ;)
