It was a two-week wait just to get the slides and scans back from the lab. When I did, the scans were HORRIBLE! Color balance, alignment, everything were way off base... the scanner was out of focus for an entire roll of film and they didn't even scan all the frames! So much for saving time by letting the lab do it.

Anyway, I've been slowly working on rescanning the slides via my Epson 2580 flatbed and they're coming out pretty decently, so I thought I'd start posting a few pics in my user gallery (http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showgallery.php/cat/500/ppuser/626). More pics will follow in the days to come as I get time to sort through the slides and scan them. All photos were taken with an Olympus XA under available light using either 100 or 200 Kodak Elite Chrome. Comments/critiques are welcome.

I was amazed at how little I missed having a zoom or telephoto lens and the instant review of digital, although in a number of instances I really missed having macro capability. There were a couple of shots I missed by not having zoom or telephoto capability but not nearly as many as I expected. Amazing what you can do when you slow down, think, compose, and THEN take the shot... I never had to wonder if I got the picture or not when I walked away, since I put in the work before hitting the shutter release. Guess I must be improving :). I could've wished for a more visible RF focusing patch or a more ergonomically friendly camera but since photography was not the main purpose of the vacation, I'm not going to complain too much; next time though I'll take the Konica C35 Automatic RF and the Olympus IS-5 ZLR combination instead.

Looks like you've enjoyed your vacation, Doug! I hear that flatbed scans usually need some sharpening; wonder if you did that...

Actually, other than some very slight cropping, I haven't done any editing at all. They probably could use some sharpening, but since I'm still working on my Photoshop and scanning mojo, I posted them as is for now.
