Hi guys

Finally I am also an owner of a Leica M system. My coworker was selling his M4-2 (also in the classifieds here) with a Zeiss Planar 50mm F2 ZM.

I bought it!

Definitely had to sell alot of other stuff and still am selling a couple of things, but it's worth the plunge. I took my first walk with it and to me it's perfect. I am sure there are even better camera's like an M6 or so.. but this is the best film camera I have ever owned so you can imagine what it feels like to me.

Congrats on the new purchase! Best of all, it looks like the M4-2 isn't perfect...IMO, that's the best kind of Leica to get. It takes away the fear of dings, bumps, nicks, scrapes, scratches, or anything else that collector's fear; it lets you use the camera as it was intended.

Use it, and use it well. That's a great lens on the front as well!

That's a great first Leica! It was my first one too (20 years ago)... but with the 50mm Summicron V3 instead. IMO, the Planar is a step up.

Congrats! That's great, an excellent lens too.. :)

BTW, did you note the details in the fish picture crop I posted a week ago? Now you will scan beautiful photos on your Plustek and can print them easily up to A3 size..

Jaimie, that's a lovely looking kit. I'm sure you'll get some great images with it. I also think it's good that the camera isn't pristine. It looks very nice, but not so nice that you'll be obsessing about every little nick. Just go out and shoot the thing! Please post some of the keepers when you can.

If you're OK with hand metering, you don't need an M6. The camera you have will bring home the bacon, especially w/ that lens on it.

You did that with the same set up??
Nice !!

And to all others: thanks for the comments! Really excited to finish my first roll :))

That's a great combo. Not necessarily better than M6 .... finder and framelines are "better", IMO.

Roland.

Nice way to start-enjoy! You could stop here and be fine. But you could also add an M2 with a 35 f2 (Zeiss or Leica) and add to your enjoyment.

I hope you didn't sell your Hexar. I sold mine to find a Leica M6 and although I do not regret the decision, the Hexar bug is eating at me.

Edit: Forgot to say congrats on the new purchase.

Wonderful ...Great ComboIndeed
The 50 planar is my Favorite lens at the Moment
And the M4-2 is a Smashingly Good Looking M...Tres Sexy engraving on top
Congrats & Enjoy !!
