I finally put up my CV 21/4 review...a mere 2 months before it'll be "obsolete".
*sigh*
Oh well.

Thanks!

Thank you for posting this - I just ordered a 21 Skopar from Stephen and hope to get it soon once he is back. I shoot mostly color and like contrasty and sharp lenses - the 21 should work really well for me. Like you I like wide lenses (I have the 15mm Heliar), but I do use them for landscapes mostly. I will post some pictures in the gallery section once I get around to sizing them correctly. Thanks again, very helpful!

Nice review. I like the second to last photo on that page very much.
What's your take on the 21 vs. the 15, as far as contrast/sharpness/color go?

Loved your first photo and the gas-station-car photo. The first one has a very ominous and desolate feel and I love photos with this mood. I'm still perfecting my technique of capturing this sort of mood.
The contrast and reflections (and heck, even the vignetting) in the gas-station photo gives the image a lot of punch!! Very cool indeed.

I liked the writing style and the example photos.
Be warned: this is not a techy review full of nerdy stuff, it's a guy talking about a lens he's used for a while.

I can't really compare color rendition...I've shot some Provia 400F through the 15 but only B&W thus far through the 21. The 21 is definately contrastier and sharper through the f-stop range. I will only shoot the 15 heliar at f5.6 - f8. f4.5 has too much vigenetting and over f8 there's too much diffusion.
Actually, I've had the 15 since it came "free" attached to my first Bessa body, a used R2...maybe 4 years now? I really need to use it more, but it's a hard focal length to use right.

Yeah, I'm working on developing a sort of "look" to in the same vain as you. Right now I'm working on film/dev combos that (for me) help support the mood you describe.

Techy reviews are easy to come by and (some won't like this statement) easy to write, but they do satisfy a large audience.

Obsolete? Does this mean I have to sell my 21mm color skopar?

Thank you for sharing this information. I just bought 2 magazines with test of the Voigtländer 21 mm. Your review is very usefull additional information in my decision. First choice was the 15 mm but after reading some reviews and seen pictures I now know I will choose the 21 mm.
