Finally! Nokton 50/1.5 in M-mount

I like the black version for black M2's - all right, I also like the chrome version for chrome M2's!

I know I don't need one but boy do I want one. I guess I'll see what the price is then decide how badly.

Picking up on this sentiment, other than speed what would a Nokton 50/1.5 give me that my Elmar 50/3.5 doesn't give me?

I have never bought a M mount lens but I have the Bessa-T (the world's least expensive M mount camera) so I could pick up this lens. Should I?

Time to check in on this thread again... This lens might be a contender in my assortment.

Last we heard, Stephen predicted a Summer launch. Wondering if we have a more precise date and an idea of cost.

I like my prediction better:

1) LTM original at $799... discontinued but still available = slow mover, so CV halves retail on M-mount version = $399.

2) Due to volume efficiency and manufacturing improvements achieved since the launch of the original LTM Nokton, manufacturing cost is reduced by $30, translating to a $100 retail saving = $299

3) Initial Reid review declares the new lens good, but a tad worse at max aperture, min focusing distance, all the way up in the right hand corner of the image when viewed at 600x magnification. Pre-orders are cancelled, and Stephen lowers the price to $150 with free shipping, and a bonus microfiber cloth embellished with the Cameraquest logo.

4) Early adopters faced with upcoming vacation bills at the end of the Summer sell off the Cameraquest microfiber cloth for $5 and throw in a free M-mount Nokton for good measure. Final price: FREE, with purchase of $5 accessory.

Absolutely!

I, for one, feel that my photography now will finally take off, as soon as I get my hands on this lens.
I just dont know, what's more benficial for my pictures, black or silver version...

there has to be a reason the silver version is 21,000 yen more expensive.

Cosina's French dealer claims on their website that the extra cost is due to antipollution legislation in Japan, the strictest in the world, which makes the manufacture of the chromed version more expensive.

50/1.5 Estimated to Arrive Late June

50/1.5 Estimated to Arrive Late June

With current factory information, the best estimated USA shipping date to customers for the new Voigtlander 50/1.5 Nokton M is likely the last week of June. I will post updates as more info becomes available.

Alas, estimates the new lens will be available within the US as early as June 6th are overly optimistic and inaccurate.

Best,
Stephen
