The chrome version is easily the most attractive lens that Cosina has made in that line; I know that's not a high bar, but it looks good against many other lenses as well. Love the vintage engraving too.

I quite like many of the CV lenses. Aside from the Ultron 35, which might as well be an SLR lens. My favorites for looks are the 21 and 25 in chrome (screw mounts), as well as the Color Skopars (50 or 35 --same barrel design) which remind me of the lovely Summaron. Also like the Heliars. Worse CV designs for me are most of the Ultrons and Noktons, though the 40 and 35 Noktons are quite nice and I would for them to make a 35 1.4 in chrome.

Got my black Nokton today and havent shoot yet...
First findings...to me the focusring is quite a disappoinment, ackward, focusing itself is too stiff for use with one finger only and focusing scale is useless, and the focus throw is weird also.
Why havent they just assembled a proper tab ... pisses me off :-/
Hopefully the lense performs that good Ive read from several reviews

Just got one of these today...very much looking forward to using it. I like what I see in the examples above.

Look for an Olympus 49mm ND filter. They made some nice ones for the OM system that are high quality and won't break the bank.
Edit to add that Minolta made some very nice filters in that size as well.

Finally got my copy...focusing wide open is tricky since the DoF is so thin. I really like the look of this lens, it's the look I was hoping for when I got a v1 Summilux some time ago. Sharp wide open but not clinical, with just enough veiling flare wide open to give some glow, but not so much that it destroys contrast. This was shot close to or at f1.5:

Agreed and for the money quite amazing! I like it so much I recently sold my Cron V but that was a bit iffy in very bright light (some kind of veiling flare I think).

lawrence, agree with you completely. It's an amazing lens at the price point. I did comparisons with the v5 Cron and could find only a slight edge of sharpness with the Cron, subjectively 5% better perhaps. Stopped down of course everything became equal.

Leica USA loaned me the 50mm f1.4 lux' ASPH for about two years so I had a chance to use this AND travel with it. About a year ago I purchased the Nokton F1.5 in chrome and not only
is it beautiful BUT delivers the goods. Tack sharp at point of focus at F1.4...at some point when the weather here cools I'll get back in my darkroom and scan some negatives.
Form should always follow function.

Used the LTM version on both my M8.2 then M240. Excellent lens - held off from the temptation of getting the new VM lens - until the need for a fast lens on my daughters new (to her) M8 arrived. The LTM lens absolutely belongs on an M8 (and was my go to lens at the time). So with a heavy heart it passes on.
The VM is better. Sorry for those that may disagree, but it is. The contentious focus ring is actually very easy to get used to (and delivers) and the improved aperture ring is a big improvement. I used some rubber O rings tight against the LTM focus ring which stopped me from moving it in use when focusing but made it hard to quickly change the f-stop (sticky). Now its is easy (and safe).
And I really do believe it is sharper!
Initial thoughts, will post some images when time permits.
