Finally! Nokton 50/1.5 in M-mount

I have had no problems focusing quickly w/the new Nokton, even w/gloves. As on the 1950s (non-ASPH) LTM original, I think the scalloping/knurling on the focus ring compensates for its (relatively) smaller width.

Depending on your eyesight, you might have problems reading the aperture & focus distance on the chrome version (rendered in black) in low light/night conditions (also true of the '50s original).

The knurling on my summicron DR is great, but it seems much more "biting" than on the Nokton. bigger, and with slots.

I've just ordered the older used LTM version. I shall be using it on an M3 that should be arriving very soon. Can't wait to start shooing with it. Would of like the new version but locally it's over 800 euros.

The ltm version is a great lens too, Stuart.
The M mount gives you 0.2m closer focusing possibilities when compared to an unmodified ltm lens. I bought an ltm lens with 0.65m min distance that was modified.

The chrome M lens gets many praises for build quality.

I marked mine with a sharpie and it's not being detected for some reason.

This lens I wanted to like but... I went back to the LTM version.
The thin seemingly spiny focus wheel of the new M mount version did not win out over the original ltm lens.
.9m is close enough for me with a fast 50mm on a rangefinder. Up close is SLR time and I have some great ones.

Yes, I marked mine with a black marker and it works fine. I coded it as a 50mm Summilux ASPH. It could depend on the reflectivity of the ink of your marker. Try a different one, or flat black acrylic paint.

I don't prefer it to more orthodox designs, but I can get used to it.

About the hood: I find the design quite poor. Lots of finder blockage.
How bad is it needed?
did someone tried one of the chinese generic ones from ebay?
Is it an improvement?

Congrats. I've used a generic vented (Chinese) 49mm hood & it works fine. Slightly less VF blockage & more protection for the front element (my main reason for hoods on modern lenses).

I found a shade on eBay that I really like. Less finder blockage and a nice shape that fits the lens really well.

Erik, thanks. I saw that and it looks great, but it's a one shot buy. such hoods don't seem to be readily available.
(and your statement about the quality of the lens might have had quite some weight in my decision to get one ;-) )
