Finally - Real News About Rodinal: Saved!

You probably already know this but Agfa Rodinal is not the original formula anyway, RO9 is much closer to the original.

Yes, I did - LOL! But actually, I meant people will starting complainting that the new a&o Rodinal is not the Agfa Rodinal (meaning the last bottles to roll off their docks) that they knew and worshipped like a minor diety.

ps. Rodinal & HP5+ is not one of the recommended combinations... I usually use HC-110 with ISO400 films & Rodinal with slow films.

This is a common misconception. Hp5+ works very well in Rodinal, see attachment, HP5 in Rodinal @ 1+25 for 8 minutes, agitated one inversion every 30 seconds, enlarged onto Ilford MGIV RC developed in Ilford Multigrade @ 1+9.

HP5 is a iso 200 film with Rodinal. If I want slower speed, I go with finer grain stuff like FP4+ or APX100 instead. In medium format, that's a okay choice, but not my first choice in 35mm.

I've never been a huge fan of Rodinal. Good stuff, but htere are many alternatives available. The latest issue of Phot Techniques, gives the recipe for it. It looks quite simple to make...

I stockpiled, so I think I have a life time supply. I was even worried that I was going go through it, much more quickly than I am, but you never know.

Now it will be really sad once I use my last roll 120 rolls of agfa 100, and the rest of the 4x5 sheet film, I wish that were still available as well, the original portriga, with cadium--ahh the good ol days!
