Well-known
After years of waffling (I don't "need" any additional camera equipment), I finally took the plunge with an S2. And I'm actually pleasantly surprised. It's no more difficult to focus then my two modern Leicas. I like the increased magnification (maybe there's an M3 in my future). The only other Nikon rangefinder I've had in my hands had a rangefinder patch that was ghostly in appearance. Very faint to the point of nonexistence.
And it was the history behind this specific camera that nudge me over the edge. It belonged to an avid amateur in the 1950's who was killed in a MVA in '58. It sat unused for more then 50 years. The family encouraged the widow (now 88 years old) to sell the camera so that she could do some traveling. I think I paid up for it, but it went to a good cause, and I have a feeling I'm carrying on a tradition with the camera (following the 50+ year hiatus).
