Just received a call from my Leica dealer. They are expecting a shipment of M8's next Thursday and there is supposed to be one black body which they told me had my name on it.

I hope the name is not carved into the body.

Make sure you have the IR cut/hot filters for your lenses. Ken Hansen has the Heliopans. Call him at 212-879-3263. They are pricey! But indoors colors are off otherwise.
It's a great camera.

I got it --- charged the battery --- attached the 12mm Vgt lens and posted a pix from a lunchtime encounter

Seems the upload did not take here - I did post a couple of photos from my first day with the M8 on Flickr

The dynamic range of the scene was too large due to the backlit conditions, but I wanted the subject matter captured. I had to boost shadows and cap highlights in Photoshop for the one with the ladder
