finding a swell bag for my M

Crumpler 5 million dollars is the one I have and like.

It's not expensive (cheap), well built, small and doesn't look much like a camera bag. It has two velcro divider, so you can divide it into 3 compartments. I usually carry my 30D, 24-70L (atached to the camera), 17-40 (or other lens) and a flash in it.

If more gears need to be carried, you can attach two extra pouches to the side of the bag (one to each side).

Can the 5xb be worn as a belt pack?
Am I cool enough to pull that off?
Unlikely...maybe I'l go sleep on it.
I like the idea though.

I thought it was strange to see the belt loop for the bag - I don't think I would ever use it b/c it's too big for the belt. Is there another function (attaching to another bag), or is it for the belt?

Anyhow, I like the 5xb a lot and may buy a second one for my Fuji GS645. It holds all the gear I need, including my small photo notebook and even a paperback book.

You dont find the Crumpler overly padded? I had a smaller one before (forget which model) but it just seemed too small inside for the outside size of the bag...

I have the ACAM 7000 and the ACAM 7100

The 7100 is a great design and well made ...... This would be the perfect size for what you need ....
Also A&A backs up their product should you need any repairs...... amazing customer service ....
I brought the 6 million Dollar Crumpler bag with me on my trip to Japan and found it a extremely uncomfortable ,bulky ..... seems more suited for an SLR .. spent the whole time in the suitcase ......

No, I don't find it overly padded.
One thing that I don't really like is that the flap has velcro on it, and it's noisy when you open the bag. BTW, I edited my previous post, I meant to say "flash" not "flashlight" 😱

Ah, the bag issue. I have tried so many frigging bags. I have yet to find the one that has all the minimalist feature-set that I would like. The Leica, Fogg, billingham or leather Roots bags all scream 'what a beautiful, understated expensive bag -- wonder what is stored in here'. So not pour moi. Then there are Domke, Crumpler, BBB and National Geographic bags that have a Velcro enclosure. Can you say "RRRRRRIIIIIIPPPPPPP!!!!"? The lack of padding on some bags like the BBB is a slight concern für mir. I have a Crumpler side bag with minimal padding, which is nearly perfect, but the inner pockets do not suit me for photography. I have another crumpler that is over padded. The best compromise I have made is with the Domke f5xA or B; but both suffer from the velcro "RRRIIIIPPP" sound. I have read about guys taping half the velcro to minimize the effort needed to open the bags, but this modification is not for me. The excessive "RRRRIIIIIPPP!" is there by design to prevent easy and soundless access; it just has both an up and a downside to it.

My search for THE BAG for me is still in progress.

Yeah, I've gone through some bags myself. I'm recently on the Lima:

I've had the Tango for a while for my laptop and generally like it. After a couple of others said they liked the Lima, I decided to get that one too. Honestly, I think I like the Lima better than the Tango, but that's beside the point. I think I got my Lima from Amazon.

Is the Lima perfect? No bag is. However, I do find it nice to work out of, wraps around the waist nicely, not too big, not too small, I can carry my gear and some reading material too if I just want to sit on a bench and read for a while, and it so does not look like a camera bag. So I think I'll stick with it... for now. 🙄

Before I bought it, I was a little concerned about the velcro used on the Bare Bones Bag but they are thin strips and you can have them attached a little or more as you desire. I never have that Crumpler "RIIIIIP" when opening the bag. The lack of padding doesn't bother me. It does have a padded bottom. I use it for my Leica, ZI, Rollei TLR, Hassy, folders (not all at the same time!).

It's the "Penn's Pad & Pencil Satchel." their bags have some silly names but the product is great. With plastic zipper teeth so you don't scratch your bling 😀 The only downside as with any camera bag is that it is a bonafide man purse...

When I did use mine, I actually cut the stitching of the velcro on top flap to remove it because of that noise 😀

Perhaps you have a model other than this one? But this would be the one I'd want. The other A&A bags are too big for me, or just look too much like a camera bag.

That looks like the ACAM-7100 cost is about 189.00 ¥ in Japan
Great bag ..... if the velcro bothers you you can always remove it or stick some velcro over the velcro to render it useless ... that make sense lol

The velcro is not so tuff sticking like on other bags ... barley audible.. refined velcro ; )

Another vote for the excellent Domke F-5XB. My RF system consists of Leica M2 (Maya), Epson R-D1 (Paarth), Summicron 40mm, Elmar 90mm and the Industar 61. I was in NY this weekend and dropped over at the nice folks at Photovillage and Photohabitat. An hour and $125 later I walked out with 2 TA soft releases (Red LHSA and stealth Black), Black Domke F-5XB and Newswear small pouch.

The Domke carried my entire RF kit with aplomb and there was space left in the main compartment for 2 more lenses. No cramping of space, I had the Summicron mounted on 'Paarth' (R-D1) and the Industar on 'Maya' (Leica). The front pocket carried spare memory cards, 5 batteries for the Epson.

The beauty of the bag is its canvas. It looks simple and yet is protective enough (the base is a little lightly padded for my liking). It hugs your body and allows you to pull out the camera quickly and take pictures and then holster it back..

Go for the Domke..@$60 its a damn steal..

used as a handle or can loop through a couple of belt loops to keep the bag from swinging forward while leaning over to take a shot ...
