hi,
I have recently purchased a Nikon Coolscan 9000ED, but I do not have any firewire 400 ports available on my MacBook Pro (current aluminum unibody), which has only a FW800 port.
Does anyone know if there's a FW400->FW800 adapter/converter avilable?
For now, I am using a black macbook to scan, but I'd feel more comfortable using the new MBP.

Thaks in advance

Ed

There are 400 to 800 cables or adapters, 800 is backwards compatible, no conversion needed, just the cable.. The scanner will work in 400 speed.

I have to assume Fidel made a typo, and left out the word NO which I filled in in brackets above. All you have to do is plug in the scanner with the cable you have. No problems, and no other equipment needed. That's what he meant when he said "backwards compatible".

Drewbard, its backwards compatible, but they have different connectors, which is why you need a cable from 400 to 800, which are made for this reason..
