Hi,

I recently made my first photobook through Blurb:

I am a complete amateur, and I never enter my work in anything. I know few photographers, and have very little feedback, so I would appreciate any criticism you have for the book, good and bad. I'm not expecting to sell any of them (I just printed 1 for my mom for Christmas), but it is kind of nice anyway.

Let me know what you think!

Lots of compelling imagery in your book.

The poem in the beginning leads me to believe the book is about birds as the first few photos have birds, and then the subjects take a different tangent. For me, this is unexpected.

2 images that really truly stand on their own: The desert shot with the lone pole dead center, and the photograph of the oak canopy. Both well executed and kept me viewing for a long time.

The cover image is a great shot, and it works well with your title.

All in all a great first book!

I especially liked the one of the fern shadows falling on the book, the shot upwards into the branches of the trees, and the power wires over the road.

A lot of them seem to depend on subtle tonalities - how does the printed book look compared to the screen display?

I should include some more background:

The photos were taken on a trip to the West Coast last summer with my friend Israel. When we were on the trip, we constantly saw birds in groups of two following or crossing over our path. The more poetic part was that I felt like we were also two birds.

As to the tonalities, Blurb does very good with printing, and the pictures look really nice on a printed page. They were all shot with a point and shoot (film), a Fuji Klasse S, which unfortunately broke and cannot be fixed : (
